A story about the essence of true love
Sara (33) has been living with her boyfriend on his boat for three years.
Together they sail through Greece.
But no matter how free life seems, she increasingly feels trapped.
She has become too dependent on him.
One day in a village, Sara meets an old woman who gives her a letter with mysterious contents.
In it she is challenged to search for the keys to a happy life.
Will Sara dare let go of the life she knows and truly choose for herself?
''I Am Sara is an inspirational, spiritual novel, and a great read too!
Irene's writing style draws you into the story.
You imagine yourself all over the world in Sara's life.
You empathize with her and are inspired to think carefully about your own life as well.
In short, a novel you can sink into, and make your own life change!''
''What a delicious book Irene!
I really had it completely out in no time and enjoyed it.
Beautiful story and very nicely written in an accessible way!
As I am used to from you by the way😉''
''I thought it was an (h)honest book about a young woman's quest.
I was completely in the story and kept reading... Surprising feelings and events that kept me reading on.
Hugely enjoyable, fine and intriguing novel I look forward to the sequel''
''I am Sara is so written that I want to read on. In fact, I am very curious to see what will come Sara's way. This is really due to the writing style of Irene van Gent. The story reads well and is technically well written. As the story progresses I get more and more enthusiastic about the book and I also recognize a lot of myself in the quest Sara embarks on.''
''I am Sara is a novel with a deeper layer. A young woman searching for herself to become happy. During the search, she meets several people who all teach her a lesson. I don't feel that this is quite my kind of book, but for when it appeals to you, it is definitely recommended; the book is well put together.''
I am Sara is a book with content that both makes you think and makes for a good read. A combination that testifies of an author who knows what she is talking about and really lives it. The story is light-hearted and speaks to the imagination, but has a crystal clear message: that in the search for who you really are, everything in life is a mirror.''
'''I am Sara is a nice read about Sara, a young woman who doesn't just live life, but really wants to make something of it. Wants to live life the way it suits her. And for that she has to do something... So Sara ends up in situations she has to deal with all the time. Acting, not acting, floating along, breaking, near, far, even further away, she chooses and creates. Taking the reader with her, who automatically starts thinking about what that is like for him/her!''

The genesis of "I am Sara
Books originate in the most extraordinary ways.
My book “I am Sara” also had a remarkable start.
In 2016, I was in a French ruin clearing debris with a dust cover on.
In that rubble, I found a pile of clothes that had almost perished.
I felt there was a story behind it.
Not long after that, I began this story, about a woman who searches for the essence of true love in the mess of the life she has created.
The book initially flowed through me as inspiration, until my life took another turn.
I became overworked and failed to continue writing.
After a period where I felt emotionally and financially broken, it took a few years before I was able to continue writing again.
The book is recognizable to many women: the doubts, the insecurities, the problems in a relationship, all issues we face every day.
‘I am Sara’ is partly based on my life, but most of it came from the story that just wanted to flow from my hands.
It was my wish for readers to dream away and be inspired to reflect on their own lives and so far that has worked out well.
Like the main character, I said goodbye several times to everything I thought I needed.
Just after the launch of the book, I started a new life; I had broken off my relationship and given up my permanent home.
From there I was able to search again for what I really wanted.
It’s a question that comes back to me regularly, but I think to many in this life.
‘I am Sara’ is available at all (online) bookstores.
